Installation of Quartz Epoxy Flooring System in High School Locker Room

Project Overview

This project involves the installation of a high-performance quartz epoxy flooring system in the high school locker room. The chosen flooring system is designed to meet the specific needs of an educational facility, providing a durable, low-maintenance, and aesthetically pleasing solution (to match the school’s colors) that can endure the daily rigors of heavy foot traffic, moisture, and cleaning chemicals.

Purpose and Objectives

The primary aim of this project is to upgrade and improve the mechanical infrastructure of the school. The enhancements are intended to support the school’s operational efficiency, safety standards, and overall facility management.

Scope of Work

  1. Surface Preparation:
    • Removal of the existing flooring material, ensuring a clean and level substrate.
    • Thorough cleaning and degreasing of the substrate to remove contaminants.
    • Grinding the surface to achieve the proper profile for epoxy adhesion.
    • Repairing any cracks, holes, or uneven areas in the concrete substrate.
  2. Moisture Mitigation:
    • Application of a moisture barrier primer to prevent moisture-related issues in the epoxy system.
  3. Application of Epoxy Primer:
    • Installation of an epoxy primer coat to enhance the bond between the substrate and the epoxy flooring system.
    • Ensuring uniform coverage and allowing appropriate curing time.
  4. Quartz Epoxy Base Coat:
    • Application of the epoxy base coat infused with colored quartz aggregate for enhanced durability, slip resistance, and aesthetic appeal.
    • Broadcasting additional quartz aggregate to achieve the desired texture and finish.
    • Allowing the base coat to cure according to manufacturer specifications.
  5. Topcoat Application:
    • Installation of a clear, chemical-resistant epoxy topcoat to seal the quartz aggregate and provide a smooth, glossy finish.
    • Ensuring the topcoat is evenly applied, with attention to detail around edges, corners, and transitions.
  6. Curing Time:
    • Allowing the epoxy flooring system to fully cure before permitting foot traffic or the reinstallation of lockers and other fixtures.
  7. Final Inspection and Cleanup:
    • Conducting a thorough inspection of the completed flooring system to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications.
    • Cleaning the work area and removing any debris, tools, and excess materials.

Expected Outcomes

The completed quartz epoxy flooring system will provide the high school locker room with a long-lasting, easy-to-clean surface that withstands the demands of a high-traffic environment. The flooring will offer enhanced safety with its slip-resistant finish, contributing to a safer, more hygienic, and visually appealing locker room environment.
