Concrete Repair & Epoxy Overlay – College Campus

Project Overview

The college campus bridge restoration project aimed to address critical structural and surface issues to enhance durability and safety. The scope included demolition, rebar treatment, concrete repairs, and the application of a SIKA DOT bridge sealant system.

Purpose and Objectives

The primary purpose of the project was to restore and improve the structural integrity, durability, and safety of the campus’s bridge. Over time, the bridge had deteriorated, necessitating comprehensive restoration work to ensure it could continue to serve its function effectively.

Scope of Work

  • Assessment and Preparation: Inspected thoroughly and identified areas needing repair, including jackhammering and excavation of damaged concrete sections. Utilized non-destructive testing to detect hidden damages throughout the bridge.
  • Repair and Reinforcement: Treated rusted rebar to prevent further corrosion while applying Sika 1000 concrete to secure and fill damaged areas, ensuring structural integrity.
  • Surface Preparation: Prepared the bridge surface to facilitate the application of the SIKA DOT bridge sealant system ensuring proper drainage and improved traction to enhance safety and durability.
  • Coating Application: Implemented the SIKA DOT bridge sealant system which provides effective snow-melting capabilities during winter.
