Our Commitment to
Safety & Wellness
At Houck, safety isn’t just a priority, it’s a core value. We are relentlessly committed to creating a safe work environment for our employees, our clients, and the communities we serve.
Our comprehensive, proactive safety program goes beyond compliance. It includes thorough employee education, proactive hazard assessment, and a focus on preventing injuries before they happen. This dedication has been recognized by industry leaders.
Encouraging Employee Safety
Proactive safety programs and training sessions ensure every team member is prepared before stepping on any work site.
We have safety committees, with executive and field involvement, to infuse the focus and importance of safety across the company.
Our worker safety programs include reviewing a comprehensive safety directory, detailed policies and procedures, and helping employees set goals and practice safety-specific work strategies.

Prioritizing Health & Wellness
Employee health and wellness goes beyond preventing physical injuries. We understand that wellness doesn’t only pertain to physical health, but also mental, social, and financial health.
Steps We’re Taking
- Created a Chief Wellness Officer position as well as a wellness committee to educate the company and continually provide resources
- Trained a group of certified mental health first aid (MHFA) staff members
- Working closely with our vendors to ensure we are prioritizing mental health in our benefits, like upgrading our employee assistance program (EAP) to support employees better
- Working towards a company-wide Vital Cog education with our certified Vital Cog trainer
- Conducting “toolbox talks” and education sessions focused on employee health and wellness
What Can You Do?
Did you know that more people in construction die by suicide and opioid overdoses than by all worker-related deaths combined?
We believe that prioritizing mental health and overall wellness, not just traditional safety, is one way to keep our employees safe and healthy. Supporting worker health and wellness in the construction industry is a team effort – everyone plays a role. Learn more about suicide prevention and how you can show your support:
